Borderlands Project

Borderlands Project
Body

The Borderlands project is a collaboration between ILaLS, Mission and Ministry and the Office and Mission to increase community knowledge about contemporary border life and culture and to understand the impact of Mexican culture and Latin American immigration in California and beyond.  One component of the project is a faculty immersion experience on the Tijuana-San Diego Border. The program was inspired by the student border immersion experience organized by Mission and Ministry.  With the support of various offices, including Mission and Ministry, the Office of Mission, the College Committee on Inclusive Excellence,  the Cummins Institute, and ILALS, the first faculty cohort traveled to San Diego and Tijuana in July 2018.  The second group followed during summer of 2019. We hope to continue with this important experience on a yearly basis.
