After completing your Bilingual Authorization, you will be able to:

 

  • Take an asset stance toward Latinx students’ and communities’ linguistic and cultural resources and draw on them to support student learning
  • Understand bi/multilingual language use and development in Latinx communities in California and the US
  • Use your Spanish language and literacy abilities to support your students’ learning and partner with their families 
  • Understand different  bilingual program models
  • Create learning experiences that support students’ language, literacy, and content learning in Spanish and English
  • Understand the transferability between Spanish and English and build students’ metalinguistic awareness
  • Develop instruction that is culturally and linguistically responsive to your student community
  • Use formative and summative assessments to inform and differentiate instruction
