Men's Rugby Wins Last Home Game 29-6

February 27, 2010- Men’s rugby won an important rivalry game against UC Davis. The final score was 29-6. Saint Mary’s lost their first match of the season to Davis back in January.
The first twenty minutes of the game there was no scoring with Saint Mary’s aggressively approaching Davis’ try-line. At seventeen minutes, number 15 Matthew Hensley scored a try and scored the placekick making the score 7-0.
Playtime continued until the end of the half when Davis was fouled near their try-line and scored a placekick making it 7-3. After the half there was another penalty against Saint Mary’s and Davis scored another placekick.
The crowd was on its toes until number 7 Anthony Suzio scored a try. The score was now 12-6. There were several big hits committed against the Saint Mary’s men in the second half but they held strong. Luke Napier number 11 scored with 15 minutes left in match play; however, Saint Mary’s missed the place kick. More scores included Tim Maupin number 13 at ten minutes and Michael Haley.
Men’s rugby will play their next game this Saturday against Chico State. They were victorious in their last appearance with Chico State.
