Gaels Beat Stanford 66-20

January 31, 2009 ARN- In the Saint Mary’s-Stanford game, the Gaels led the Cardinal 28-15 at the half, but after some halftime adjustments the floodgates opened and Stanford couldn’t stop the onslaught.

“Stanford may have three of the fastest players playing rugby on the Pacific Coast," said SMC head coach Tim O'Brien.

”That is a much improved Stanford team,” said Saint Mary’s heach coach Tim O’Brien. “We gave them some trouble in the set pieces and I think the guys did a good job of keeping them off balance.”

Especially loose forward Brandon Vedder (pictured here), who supplied a good amount of the Gaels’ go-forward and kept Stanford guessing. ”In the midfield Brendan O’Meara was superb,” O’Brien added.
