SMC Tops Sacramento 56-19

January 10, 2009-- ARN-. #4 St Mary’s was given a stern test by Sacramento State in the first half of their game, but the Gaels won going away in the second period as the Hornets weren’t able to stem the tide. SMC led 17-12 at halftime before pulling away for a 56-19 final scoreline.

The Gaels banged in 10 tries all up. Captain Brendan O'Meara (pictured here) led the way in scoring, while Chad Clark crossed for two. "We worked admirably in the trenches and transitioned well with ball in the midfield to earn a very hard fought win,” said Saint Mary’s head coach Tim O’Brien.

“We wore Sac down a bit and dominated possession and territory in the second half.”
