Brother Charles Hilken, Ph.D.

As a professor of medieval history, Hilken served as a consultant for "Vatican Splendors," a traveling art exhibition featuring extraordinary works by masters including Michelangelo, Bernini, Giotto and Guercino, and objects dating back to the first century.

Brother Charles Hilken also directs the Bishop John S. Cummins Institute for Catholic Thought, Culture and Action at Saint Mary’s, and regularly blogs about the Pope, Vatican and intersections of Catholic teaching and contemporary issues. For background, the Cummins Institute fosters conversations about Catholic tradition and explores contemporary issues affecting Catholic colleges and universities.
