Signature Programs

Every year our Peer Health Education leaders put on programs to help SMC students get involved in their health.  Take a look at some of the programs offered to our students and join us at our next event!

Fall Semester:

Awareness & Prevention Fair (Annual Health Fair)

The consequences of excessive and underage drinking affects all college campuses, communities, and students whether they choose to drink or not.  This simulation activity helps us start conversations about the effects of alcohol and the importance of making responsible choices.

Love Is Louder

Love Is Louder is a reach out campaign that started in 2012!  To promote campus inclusivity and to break down the stigma and barriers that prevent people from reaching out for help, we've created a campus campaign of events to promote the idea of asking for help during times of need.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Join the HWC and PATCH in promoting cancer awareness and preventative tips for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Find us at Oliver Hall for our Think Pink extravaganza!

Great American Smokeout

Use our campus programming as your quit day or learn about tools to help you get to that goal.  To promote awareness of the social and personal dangers of smoking we put on activities to get students involved in making healthier choices.

Promise Tree

A tree is set up in Oliver Hall to allow students to get a head start on New Year's Resolutions and healthy promises for a great year ahead!

Stress Management Week

Activities are set up through out the week of finals including free massages, pet therapy, art therapy, and meditation.

Spring Semester:

Love Your Body Week

Body image issues and healthy awareness of ourselves are important topics that are addressed at this event.  Join us as we partner with the Women's Resource Center to provide you with an outlet to talk about media influence, societal pressures and how to love yourself for all that you are!

Safe Spring Break (Alcohol Awareness Week)

This week starts off with a demolished vehicle that is brought to campus with detailed storyboards that depict the crash events.  Then is followed by a week long of activities that highlight how to be aware and how to prevent risky behavior during the high risk time of spring break.

Fit Fresh & Fun Week

You shouldn't need a reason to exercise, but we'll give you LOTS of good reasons during this program week!  There will events throughout the week and we always end with a 5k RUN for everyone.  CILSA and the Health and Wellness Center team up to put on a 5k that generates funds for hunger and homelessness.  Exercise for a cause...what more could you ask for?!
