President's Message, Christmas 2011

As we enter another Christmas season, I am reminded of my personal experiences of Christmas in Bethlehem: The nights of clear sky and bright stars, the streets streaming with pilgrims, and the sobering reality of poverty and political unrest around us. We welcomed the season of joy and hope amid the daily reminders of humanity struggling for peace and justice and celebrated the birth of the child Jesus as the simple and profound expression of God’s love for each of us.

We have much to be thankful for here at Saint Mary’s and I extend my own thanks to you, the students, faculty and staff, for your dedication to our mission during the past year. Your generous commitment is indeed hopeful as we face the sobering challenges of today’s world. The success of Saint Mary’s is your success, and we should all be thankful.

From all of the Brothers, I wish you joy and hope in this holiday season.

Brother Ronald Gallagher, FSC
