Psi Chi Honor Society

Psi Chi is an international honor society whose purpose shall be to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology.

Mission Statement

The mission of Psi Chi is to produce a well-educated, ethical, and socially responsible member committed to contributing to the science and profession of psychology and to society in general.

SMC Psi Chi Chapter

The Saint Mary's Chapter of Psi Chi, was formed to connect classroom learning with real world application. Through community engagement, service, and research; we attempt to foster an environment that promotes the excitement of the field of psychology.

Requirements 

  • Declared as either a psychology major or minor
  • Completed a minimum of four psychology courses at SMC
  • 3.0 overall GPA, and a 3.0 major GPA
  • $55 one-time fee for membership

Research Lunch

Wednesday, March 13, 1-2:30PM, Galileo 202 - Flyer Attached

This lunch is open to all! Enjoy pizza and drinks, and mingle with fellow students and faculty who are seeking research students. Earn up to 3 points: 1 for attending, +1 for being a panelist, and +1 for bringing a non-Psi-Chi member. 

 

Women's History Month 

March 6-March 31, Psych Lounge

Earn 1 point by writing about a woman in Psychology who inspires you on the Psych Lounge whiteboard wall. 

 

Autism Awareness Month

March 15-April 5, Psych Lounge

  • Autism Awareness Month is in April. Starting in mid-March, Earn 1 point by writing a myth about Autism Spectrum Disorder and debunking it with a fact, citing your source. 
  • Then, earn 1 point for participating in our social media quiz about Autism Spectrum Disorder, which will occur in late March. 
  • Between April 1-5, we are offering 1 point to Psi Chi members who post a picture of themselves wearing blue and sharing about 1 resource that aims to help individuals impacted by Autism. Tag SMC Psi Chi on instagram or Facebook to get credit for this point opportunity.

Root Beer Float & Movie Night - March 19, 7PM, Psych Classroom - 1 point

Grad Night - April 3, 6PM, Soda Center - Moraga Room, 1 point for attendance, +1 point for being a panelist
