Update to Residence Hall Policy: March 27, 2020

Dear Saint Mary’s Students in Campus Housing,

This new, rapidly evolving environment is challenging for all of us. Every day brings new information and complexities. Our response to the COVID-19 pandemic is guided by our commitment to Lasallian core principles, which includes the well-being of both our College community and the common good.

Our policy for students to move off-campus was implemented to protect students and comply with the social-distancing guidelines from Contra Costa County. Since the March 19 order for California residents to “shelter in place”, we have been working with students and families on an individual basis to provide options for those who still have personal belongings in their residence hall rooms. At this point, some students have not had the opportunity to pack their possessions; we will be following up with those students directly to offer support as needed.

If you are in the situation where your belongings are still in your room, you need not return to campus for the purpose of moving them out until this shelter in place order is lifted.  The Office of Residential Experience and Campus Housing will work with you individually to either pack and mail your belongings home or store them here on campus. Please contact the Office of Residential Experience at reslife@stmarys-ca.edu; (925) 631-4236, or the Office of Campus Housing: housing@stmarys-ca.edu; (925) 631-4241 as soon as possible. We will work with you to find an acceptable solution.
