Saint Mary’s Achieves Top Rankings in The Princeton Review

Saint Mary’s College has done it again! The Princeton Review has named Saint Mary’s among The Best 386 Colleges, in the 2021 edition of its annual college guide published in August 2020. Saint Mary’s was selected as one of the top colleges out of nearly 2,800 eligible four-year institutions of higher learning. The College is featured in a two-page profile that speaks to Saint Mary’s outstanding attributes as a leading California liberal arts college, and has the distinction of earning top rankings in the publication since its debut in 1992.

The Princeton Review surveyed 143,000 students from across the country to find out which colleges ranked highest among several categories, including academics, demographics, career services, student activities, affordability, dining services, sports, town life, and more.

“We are proud, once again, to be recognized as one of the top colleges in the nation by The Princeton Review,” said Margaret Kasimatis, provost and senior vice president at Saint Mary’s College. “Saint Mary’s is an extraordinary institution of Lasallian Catholic higher education with remarkable faculty who are recognized nationally for their impressive scholarship. The College’s commitment to advancing academic excellence and its transformative student-centered educational focus—rooted in the liberal arts and guided by principles of inclusive community and justice—prepare students for personal and professional success, and the promotion of the common good for all.”

The stellar rankings from The Princeton Review underscore the College’s academic distinctiveness, said Saint Mary’s President James Donahue. It’s rewarding to know that we are placed in such high esteem for excellence in higher education. Our faculty are outstanding academicians, and their unwavering commitment to ensuring our students become the very best versions of themselves, personally, academically, spiritually, and professionally, is a hallmark of our mission.”

“Since 1992, the goal in publishing college rankings—and our ongoing mission at The Princeton Review—is to help students find, get accepted to, and thrive at the colleges best for them,” said Robert Franek, The Princeton Review’s editor-in-chief and lead author of the book. “We salute Saint Mary’s for their exceptional offerings especially during this extremely challenging academic year.”
