Saint Mary’s Library Contributes to Student Success with Textbook Collection

The 2012-2013 academic year witnessed the debut of the Library’s new textbook collection, which includes required undergraduate texts for courses with multiple sections and a small selection of graduate textbooks, all of which are available for 2-hour checkout. Our students have reacted with tremendous enthusiasm. In a November/December 2012 poll conducted by Library staff, 34 out of 35 students declared that the textbook collection has made a positive contribution to their studies, and comments in the survey revealed an overwhelming desire for a larger textbook collection with expanded check-out hours. The Library is grateful to the Vice-Provost for Undergraduate Academics for providing initial funding, the President, Provost, and Cabinet for their approval of the Strategic Initiatives funding to continue this collection for the next three years, and to the Bookstore Manager for his assistance.
