Saint Mary’s Shines in Recent Rankings

The College was listed among the top 10 regional universities in the West for the third year in a row in the 2018 Best Colleges by U.S. News & World Report. SMC was also named one of the top 382 colleges in Princeton Review's annual The Best 382 Colleges: 2018 Edition, as well as being named a top return on investment school by Business Insider and Payscale for undergraduate business programs.

Top 10 Regional Universities in the West and Top 20 for Best Value

For the third year in a row, Saint Mary's is listed among the top 10 universities in the West in the 2018 edition of Best Colleges by U.S. News & World Report. SMC is also listed in the top 20 of regional Western universities for Best Value. The category includes regional universities in the western United States that provide a full range of undergraduate and master's programs.

The College received additional high marks in 2016 as one of the Best College for Veterans in the West, ranking at number nine among regional institutions of higher education.

Best Online MBA Programs, Top Five in California

The School of Economics and Business Administration’s Hybrid Executive MBA Program was named one of the 2018 Best Online MBA Programs (ranked in the top five in California and in the top 50 nationwide) by U.S. News & World Report.

The Wall Street Journal and Times Higher Education

Saint Mary’s was listed among the top 20 percent of U.S. colleges and universities in the second 2018 College Rankings by The Wall Street Journal and Times Higher Education. The College was highlighted again for its diverse academic environment and successful student engagement. SMC scored high marks with 89.6 out of 100 for student interaction with faculty and collaborative learning, 92 in student diversity, and 83 in faculty diversity.

The Princeton Review

One of 382 Outstanding Higher-Ed Institutions

Saint Mary’s is among the 382 most outstanding higher-ed institutions in the country, according to The Princeton Review's annual The Best 382 Colleges: 2018 Edition. While the Review does not rank colleges 1-381, it does score them in categories such as admissions selectivity, financial aid, fire safety, and sustainability. The College was also included as one of the more than 600 colleges in the online 2018 Best Colleges: Region by Region.

SoFi (Social Finance)

SoFi (Social Finance) named Saint Mary’s as the second best school in the nation for Return on Education for its MBA programs—ahead of all other California universities.

Named as one of the colleges and universities worth the investment in 2017.

Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education

The College was recognized by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education as a STARS Silver Institution based on its reported accomplishments in campus sustainability. While the College made improvements across a wide range of areas, the main improvements were in waste diversion, water usage, and extracurricular programs. SMC diverted 50 percent of waste from landfills, reduced water usage by 32 percent, and 800 students now participate in environmental programs outside of the classroom, according to this Sustainability Report.

Saint Mary's was ranked among Tier One schools for both the College's Professional MBA and Executive MBA programs. SMC's hybrid Executive MBA program was ranked #16 globally.

Undergraduate Business Degree High Return on Investment

In its article "10 Undergraduate Business Degrees That Are Worth The Money," Business Insider reported last year that a Saint Mary's undergraduate business degree is among the country's top undergraduate diplomas with the highest return on investment (ROI). The business and tech news website reported on rankings from the salary-tracking website PayScale.com; which ranked colleges on a 20-year net ROI—defined as total earnings, minus the cost of the degree, minus the average earnings over the person with only a high school education.

President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll

Honor Roll for Interfaith Community Service

In an affirmation of Saint Mary’s deep commitment to community service, the College was named for the ninth year in a row to the 2015 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll—and for the third time, With Distinction. Also, Saint Mary’s was one of 98 colleges and universities, and one of just two Bay Area schools, to make the Oval Office’s Honor Roll for Interfaith Community Service in 2014, a category which recognizes schools that include interfaith engagement as part of community service. The College has been recognized on the Honor Roll each year since its inception in 2006, receiving the With Distinction honor in 2009 and 2014 and our highest designation, Finalist, in 2010. The 2016 Honor Roll is not finalized.
