Saint Mary's Announces New Vice Provost of Enrollment and Communications
Saint Mary's announces the appointment of Hernan Bucheli as Vice Provost for Enrollment and Communications. Bucheli was selected after an extensive national search and in recognition of his stellar record in achieving results in enrollment management and student retention. His strategic enrollment efforts have garnered national acclaim for marketing, advertising and recruitment excellence. Bucheli’s appointment begins on January 1, 2014.
Bucheli has more than 17 years of enrollment management experience. He currently serves as the vice president for external affairs at Notre Dame de Namur University, where he is responsible for the university's highest overall and new-student enrollment level in its history. His previous appointments include serving as assistant vice chancellor for enrollment & student affairs at the University College of Chapman University, where he had responsibility for enrollment at 26 campuses. His experience also includes serving as the systemwide director of enrollment management for Alliant International University and as an associate consultant for the enrollment management consulting firm Noel-Levitz.
Provost Beth Dobkin said that Saint Mary’s community members were impressed by Bucheli's achievements in enrollment and retention in higher education. "He brings to Saint Mary's not only an outstanding record of enrollment accomplishments, but a thoughtful recognition of the importance of fostering higher education opportunities for deserving qualified students, which is in keeping with Saint Mary’s traditions and mission. We enthusiastically welcome him to the College," said Dobkin.
As the Vice Provost of Enrollment and Communications, Bucheli will lead an award-winning team of professionals in the offices of Admissions, College Communications, Financial Aid and the Registrar. Bucheli said that he is looking forward to joining Saint Mary's and the opportunity to collaborate with community members across the campus to advance the College's reputation as a transformative educational institution.

Bucheli received a bachelor of arts in international relations from San Francisco State University and a master of arts in communication from Barry University. He is currently a doctoral student in Northeastern University’s Educational Leadership program.
