A Saint Mary's class preparing to spend the month of January doing relief work in New Orleans was the focus of a story in the Contra Costa Times.
The 25 students in the class will help rebuild parks and buildings ravaged by Hurricane Katrina, according to the article. They will live in Spartan conditions: sleeping on a bus, eating simple foods and trying to avoid stomach maladies.
The students are hoping to raise funds to support their relief efforts in New Orleans. For more information, please read a letter by Associate Dean of Liberal Arts Shawny Anderson or donate online to support the cost of a student's travel expenses.
