Saint Mary's Holds Cal to 20 in Saturday's Game

March 21, 2009-- In an extremely hard fought match against University of California- Berkeley, the Gaels saw their first lost of the season. The match was a nail-bitter for the full eighty minutes.
The Gaels came out showing Cal a strong defensive stance: at the half, Cal only lead 6-0 from two penalty conversions.
Within the first 10 minutes of the second half, the Gaels showed great speed as outside center Tim Maupin broke through the Cal defense and set up a spectacular try for scrumhalf Blake McGahan in the corner. The game was strongly contested the until late in the second half when Cal put down two extra tries. The final score was 20-5 Cal.
The Gael's B-side followed and fell to Cal 64-7. The B-side also so action on Thursday evening when Princeton University stopped in Moraga while on a West Coast tour.
Saint Mary's will host University of Washington on April 4th at 12:00pm in the first round of the NorCal playoffs. Click here for schedule information.
