Saint Mary's John Leykam "A Gael Through and Through"
Longtime Saint Mary's College staffer John Leykam, who currently serves as special assistant to the athletic director and is battling cancer, was the subject of a story in the Oakland Tribune.
Scott Leykam, director of annual giving for Stanford's athletic department, invited his father, John, to attend the Stanford's opening football game against Navy in Annapolis, Md., according to the article.
The article read, in part:
John Leykam, 61, has served Saint Mary's in various capacities since 1984, but his main role has been as a consummate promoter. He loves the school, and he sells it wherever he can to whoever is listening.
He is a Gael through and through. He graduated from Iona and works for Saint Mary's, the only two NCAA schools with Gaels as their nickname.
