Saint Mary's Lecturer Performs Leonardo Da Vinci Show

Saint Mary's College Lecturer Rob Weiner and his one-man show about Leonardo Da Vinci was featured in an article in the Contra Costa Times about the best-selling book "The Da Vinci Code" and the forthcoming film based on it.

Weiner, who teaches a class on Da Vinci at SMC, has been performing his show called "Leonardo Live" for the past six years, according to the article. "I hope the book and the movie will stimulate more people to go see my play and learn more about Leonardo, " Weiner was quoted.

The idea to write and perform a one-person Da Vinci theatrical piece came to him after Saint Mary's College sent him to a Smithsonian conference where he was inspired by a discussion on the creative contributions made by the Italian artist and thinker, according to the article. Once Weiner returned to Moraga, he got the go-ahead to start a class on Da Vinci and found himself dressing up as Da Vinci for his students. He then wrote the play, in which a 66-year-old Da Vinci appears in his last year of life, and reflects on what he's accomplished, the article said.
