San Francisco Chronicle Highlights Gretchen Lemke-Santangelo's New Book, "Daughters of Aquarius."

The San Francisco Chronicle spotlights "Daughters of Aquarius: Women of the Sixties Counterculture." The recently published book by Saint Mary's history professor Gretchen Lemke-Santangelo addresses the contributions and galvanizing experiences of women in the counterculture movement of the 1960s. "When I started teaching courses on America during the '60s and U.S. women's history, I realized that there was a huge gap in the literature on women of the '60s counterculture," Lemke-Santangelo says. "Quite a bit has been written on the counterculture more generally, but nothing focusing specifically on the experience of women."
