San Francisco Chronicle Offers Editorial Support for Saint Mary's Bid for 2012 Presidential Debate

The San Francisco Chronicle has come out in strong support of a 2012 presidential debate at Saint Mary's College. The newspaper, which was a sponsoring media partner of the U.S. Senate debate at Saint Mary's last September, offered an editorial championing the College as a splendid location for a presidential debate. The Chronicle's support echoes the sentiments of recent editorials in the Contra Costa Times and Oakland Tribune supporting a presidential debate at the College and acknowledges SMC's ability to successfully host high-profile political events, "Anyone who attended last year's U.S. Senate debate between Barbara Boxer and Carly Fiorina had to come away impressed with the friendly atmosphere and smooth logistics produced by the legion of St. Mary's student volunteers."
