The San Francisco Chronicle offers an interesting profile of Saint Mary's professor Lysley Tenorio. The article, "Author Lysley Tenorio champions isolated misfits," which notes that Tenorio teaches creative writing at the College, provides a glimpse at some of the motivations behind his decision to pursue writing as a career. The impetus for the Chronicle story is the critical acclaim Tenorio's new book "Monstress" has received since its release earlier this year. Chronicle book reviewer Meredith May also offers praise for Tenorio's debut short story collection, which she says "binds together eight tales of isolated misfits in San Francisco and the Philippines dreaming and scheming their way to impossible glory.
