San Jose Mercury News turns to Prof. Denise Witzig for insight on HBO's new series "Girls"

In an article focusing on HBO's new series "Girls," the San Jose Mercury News turned to Saint Mary's Professor Denise Witzig for commentary. Witzig, who teaches courses on the representation of women in popular culture, is quoted in the article "HBO's 'Girls' shows that life is complicated for TV's single females."  The SMC Women and Gender Studies professor spoke to Bay Area News Group TV critic Chuck Barney about the current trend of post "Sex and the City" TV comedies that are more rooted in reality and feature quirky female characters who are often down on their luck and bank balances. The Bay Area News Group story was also carried by several other news outlets, including, New Orleans Times Picayune and the Ottawa Citizen.
