History

The West Coast Biological Sciences Undergraduate Research (WCBSUR) Conference is one of the oldest, intercollegiate conferences of its kind in the nation. 

The conference was founded by Dr. William Elsinger, Professor of Biology at Santa Clara University. Over the past 42 years, students and faculty members from 182 institutions from 36 states have participated in this conference.

Besides Santa Clara University, the conference has been hosted at various institutions on the west coast including Occidental College, Point Loma Nazarene University, the University of San Francisco, Loyola Marymount University, the University of California at Irvine, Colorado College, Pacific Lutheran University and Azusa Pacific University. Saint Mary's College of CA will be hosting the conference for the first time in 2018.
