Eligibility and Benefits
Any sophomore woman majoring in physics, mathematics, chemistry, or environmental and earth sciences may apply; however, preference will be given to women who are majoring in physics, mathematics with a computer science emphasis, or earth science. The award is also intended to support students planning to attend graduate school or seeking a career in science or mathematics; students planning to go to medical school are not eligible. A minimum overall GPA of 3.25 is required.
We encourage faculty members within the School of Science and the college as a whole to nominate female students who qualify. Students may also self-nominate. In this case, the student should also get a letter of support from a faculty member in the School of Science.
Applicants must complete the online Application. A completed application will include
- A resume or curriculum vita
- A copy of a current transcript
- A statement of what the award would mean to you
- A very brief statement of your plans after graduation
- A letter of recommendation from a faculty member in the School of Science
For full consideration, the online form must be completed and resume, transcripts, and letter of recommendation should be submitted electronically to Jessica Kintner, [email protected] or Linda Busbee, [email protected], office Galileo 102, by March 18, 2016.
Professor Jessica Kintner is the director of the program at Saint Mary’s. Please feel free to direct any questions to her at [email protected].
