Any sophomore woman majoring in physics, mathematics, chemistry, or environmental and earth sciences may apply; however, preference will be given to women who are majoring in physics, mathematics with a computer science emphasis, or earth science. The award is also intended to support students planning to attend graduate school or seeking a career in science or mathematics; students planning to go to medical school are not eligible. A minimum overall GPA of 3.25 is required.
We encourage faculty members within the School of Science and the college as a whole to nominate female students who qualify. Students may also self-nominate. In this case, the student should also get a letter of support from a faculty member in the School of Science.
Applicants must complete the online Application. A completed application will include
- A resume or curriculum vita
- A copy of a current transcript
- A statement of what the award would mean to you
- A very brief statement of your plans after graduation
- A letter of recommendation from a faculty member in the School of Science
For full consideration, the online form must be completed and resume, transcripts, and letter of recommendation should be submitted electronically to Jessica Kintner, firstname.lastname@example.org or Linda Busbee, email@example.com, office Galileo 102, by March 18, 2016.
Professor Jessica Kintner is the director of the program at Saint Mary’s. Please feel free to direct any questions to her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
