SEBA Launches Inauguaral Executive Doctorate in Business Administration Program

Professor Nancy Lam

Associate and Guyette Professor of Responsible Business Nancy Lam is one faculty member behind the Executive Doctorate in Business Administration (EDBA) program launching at Saint Mary's College of California. After much thought and consideration from the Dean, a task force representing all SEBA departments, and the SEBA’s faculty members, the program has been finalized and is currently accepting applications.

SEBA’s EDBA program provides an opportunity for business professionals with significant work experience to bring evidence-based knowledge to become applied scholars, stretching their critical thinking skills and applying theoretical understanding to solve business problems in the real world. The students will learn how to develop the skills and mindset of an applied scholar through the program’s rigorous curriculum and challenging research work.

"We are extremely excited about the launch of this program, which is the first doctoral-level program offered by SEBA. The EDBA program aligns with our strategic goals to elevate the academic reputation of SMC, advance academic excellence and enhance student success," said Lam.

The first cohort will begin this Fall. According to Lam, who has done research on creativity and innovation in the field of management, one of the curriculum’s core focus is on innovation itself. Students will be able to base their dissertation projects around a topic of their choosing, including the topics of creativity or innovation. Our faculty’s depth and breadth of expertise allows our students to work with faculty representing a wide variety of knowledge.

"The program fits the Saint Mary's College campus culture and strategy by raising our academic reputation and helping potential candidates stand out in today's competitive business market while working full-time," said Interim Dean Yung Jae Lee.
