Students, submit your COVID-19 vaccine documentation or complete your vaccine waiver to the SMC Vaccine Portal by AUGUST 1st to be automatically entered into this lottery for terrific prizes! Students who upload proof of a complete COVID vaccination series as well as students who have an approved waiver are eligible for the prize drawing.

About the Interfaith Youth CoreFaith in the Vaccine Ambassador Project:
With leadership from Saint Mary’s Mission and Ministry, eight student Faith in the Vaccine (FIV) student ambassadors from SMC set out into different communities this summer— from vaccine clinics to local parishes, from SMC to faith based nonprofits — to assist people with vaccination education and efforts on the ground.
Rising senior at SMC, William Haering (‘22), is currently working as an ambassador in the SMC Health and Wellness Center, organizing two projects around campus that promote the vaccine. His latest project is the SMC Back to School Lottery. Keep your eye out for another Faith in the Vaccine project, Humans of SMC, coordinated by SMC rising senior and ambassador Amaya Griego. Amaya’s project was inspired by the Humans of New York project and will include photos with brief stories on why getting the vaccine was critical to some of our own SMC students. These stories will be featured on the Mission and Ministry Center social media sites and website.
The Faith in the Vaccine Project was made possible through a generous grant from the Interfaith Youth Core (IFYC).
Over 500 college students across the country are participating in this grant-based ambassador program. In early summer, these student ambassadors attended an IFYC day-long training which introduced them to foundational knowledge about the COVID vaccine, vaccine hesitancy and health messaging. Most of our eight ambassadors at SMC are serving in the bay area, with one serving in Denver, Colorado.
IFYC reported that 26% of vaccine hesitant Americans say that faith-based approaches may help them (overcome their hesitations). So it is wonderful that two of our ambassadors have chosen to work at SMC in the Health and Wellness Center, and one chose to do this lottery at our Lasallian Catholic College.
