SMC Library Summer Learning Challenge!

Join us with SMC Library's 2020 Summer Learning Challenge!

Our normal isn't normal. We may not have the time or mental energy for lots of reading; we may not have our usual sources to get new books from. However, we can still try new things. With this in mind, this year our annual "summer reading" list adds some new challenges outside of just reading books.

Expand your horizons, learn and experience something new, and join along with our "summer learning" BINGO.

HOW TO PLAY!!

  • Download a Bingo card from this page and print your own copy. (see the attachment below on this page.)
  • Cross out a square each time you read a book that matches that criteria. One book can count for multiple boxes!
  • Record the title to the corresponding number on the back of the Bingo card.
  • Each BINGO [4 squares in a row vertically, horizontally, or diagonally] will count as one entry (up to 10 BINGOs per sheet). Five bonus entries are awarded for each blacked out card (for a total of 15 entries).
  • Bingo cards are due in the library or virtually by emailing a picture of your BINGO cards to askalib@stmarys-ca.edu by September 11, 2020.

Need books?

  • Your local public library probably has downloadable e-books and audiobooks. Check their website or contact them to learn about your options. Even if you don't have a public library card, many of them are offering ways to sign up for a temporary library card online.
  • Ask your local independent bookstore if they are doing no-contact book ordering.
  • Bookshop.org offers online ordering and sends the proceeds to your local bookstore.
  • Indiebound suggests ways you can order e-books from your local bookstore.

Looking for a kid-friendly summer reading program? Check the website of your local public library.

PRIZES!!

There will be a drawing for three prizes, one each for students, staff/faculty, and SMC alum. The more entries you have, the greater your chance of winning!

Drawing will happen September 15 and winners will be notified via email.
