SMC Remembers 9/11 with Memorials and Mass

In remembrance of the 9/11 tragedy, Saint Mary's College held a number of special memorial events. In the morning, the SMC Republican Club, in collaboration with student government, built a touching memorial on the Chapel Lawn by placing nearly 3,000 flags to honor those who died in the attacks in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C.

Later, after a meditative walk through the labyrinth, Mission & Ministry offered a memorial service and Mass at 5:15 p.m., featuring the lighting of the memorial fire. Then at 7 p.m, the Campus Activities Board screened the film “Rebirth,” followed by a candlelight memorial procession to the flag-bedecked Chapel Lawn.
