Strategic Initiative Funds Approved
Dear Members of the Campus Community,
Re: Approved Allocation of Strategic Initiative Funds for Fiscal Year 2013-2014
We are pleased to announce the distribution of strategic initiative funds that are included in the College’s FY 2013-2014 operating budget. As a reminder, strategic initiatives funds have been included in our institutional budget process since FY 2011-2012 and are intended to advance institutional strategic objectives, enhance academic excellence, build institutional capacity, and enhance institutional financial sustainability.
The Institutional Effectiveness Committee (IEC) seeks, assesses and prioritizes the proposals received and submits allocation recommendations to the Cabinet and president. The 26 proposals approved by the Cabinet and president out of the 37 submitted were wide-ranging and included such items as funding for faculty development in Collegiate Seminar, technology infrastructure in classrooms and offices, international student recruitment, library staff and collection resources, study abroad scholarships, student tutorial hours, and staffing and programming resources for an interfaith initiative focused on students.
The approved proposals include $621,000 in ongoing funding commitments and $446,000 in one-time funding commitments. There are also $103,000 in strategic initiative funds that have not been allocated and are being held in reserve to address opportunities that may present themselves during FY 2013-2014.
In closing, we would like to thank the members of the IEC for soliciting and assessing the proposals submitted to it and for recommending the funding priorities to the Cabinet and president.
Vice President for Finance
