Room Selection

Current Saint Mary’s students apply for housing for the next academic year by participating in the Housing Room Selection Process in the Spring. The Housing Application for Continuing Students will be live Monday, March 2, 2020!

Housing Guarantee:

Current first-year students (rising sophomores for Fall next academic year) who live on campus are guaranteed housing for their sophomore year if they complete and submit online housing application via the StarRez housing portal by Sunday, April 12, 2020 at 11:59pm

Current sophomore and junior students enter the online Housing Room Selection Process (lottery style) for the chance to receive on-campus housing.  

Housing Room Selection Process

The Housing Room Selection Process for the following Academic Year will begin in Spring.

ANY and ALL continuing students who are looking for on-campus housing can begin the room selection process for the upcoming Academic Year by submitting an online housing application through our StarRez housing portal. Once your application has been submitted through StarRez, you will log back into StarRez on Monday April 13, 2020 after 5:00pm to learn your appointment time.

On your respective room selection day, you will logback into StarRez during your designated appointment time and select your room. If you do not receive on-campus housing when room selection is over, your application will automatically be in the Waitlist pool. When space becomes available, students will be contacted via phone and SMC e-mail.  If housing is offered, students are generally given 24 hours to accept or decline.  If accepted, they then pay the housing deposit.

*Please note, for continuing students who do not submit an online application by the deadline, the Campus Housing Office has assumed that you will not participate in the Housing Room Selection Process.

This year's housing selection process is ALL ONLINE! Here are some reminders to help you prepare for the upcoming room selection days:


When you log into your housing application on StarRez, your appointment time will be listed on the 'Application Status' page. If you cannot find your time slot or do not have one listed, please call the Campus Housing Office at 925.631.4241.


Now that the room selection process is online, YOU, the student, will have full control over selecting your room for the upcoming academic year. To assist you in selecting your rooms on campus, the Campus Housing Office has made helpful tools available to you:

Floor Plans

If you are interested in viewing floor plans, they are available at the Campus Housing Office located on the second floor of Ferroggiarro Hall room 200. 


All applicants of this year's room selection process was emailed a Room Selection power point and Frequently Asked Questions page that serves as guildelines and resources on how to easily navigate the application as well as the system on your Room Selection Day. Once you receive a room assignment, the $350 non-refundable Housing Pre-Payment is due on May 1, 2020
