The main purpose of the life skills programming initiatives is to offer seniors added support and opportunities to learn survival strategies in order to better cope during this critical transition.
The life skills panels will compliment and provide the Senior Mentoring Groups with meaningful topics to reflect on and further discuss in their small group settings.
Due to the relevant nature and mass appeal of the topics these life skills programs will also be open to any and all graduating seniors.
There will be other opportunities designed specifically for seniors in which students can attend panel discussions over the course of the academic year on key topics related to life after graduation.
The life skills program series is organized into four unique sections:
Each section deals with issues that are foremost in the minds of graduating seniors.
- Life After Graduation Alumni Panel
- Make A Difference Panel - How to stay connected to SMC and make a difference in the world
- Workplace 101 - Employers weigh in on what graduates can do to make their transition successful
- Managing Your Finances Panel - Budgeting and managing finances and student loans.
