Finding and Joining an Organization

Use our Student Participation and Organization Tool (SPOT)! SPOT can be found on your MySMC portal (my.stmarys-ca.edu) once you login in the top center set of links. SPOT allows you to build your own individual profile, connect to your facebook account, browse student groups, see events and meeting times on campus, and even join groups directly from the software. 

How to Start a New Student Organization: 

1. Before registering a new org on SPOT, please write your mission statement, consitution, and choose your officers/structure and an advisor. Click the links below for guides. 

2. Once your forms are complete, fill out the registration form which you can find below. The AS Vice President for Student Organizations (asvporgs@stmarys-ca.edu) will then contact you to inform you on the new organization process. 

3. At least one consistent student from the organization must attend mandatory New Organization Meetings. 

4. All of the information will be reviewed by AS representatives and the Director of Student Involvement & Leadership. You may need to make edits after the initial review. If approved, the AS VP for Organizations will guide you through having a Petition to Charter.
