Earth Month

Welcome to Saint Mary's first-ever Digital Earth Month.  We offer this space as a means to facilitate community and dialogue around our new Earth Day theme -- Cultivating a Community of Care: Self-Care, Care for Our Community, Care for Marginalized Communities, & Care for Our Common Home. If you would like to connect and share, we welcome you to join us.

In these unprecedented times, we hope that you, your family and friends are healthy, safe, and well. We know that many of you are navigating the complexities of virtual learning and ever-changing circumstances. Now, more than ever, supporting each other (even from a distance) is vital to our health, safety, strength and resilience. The Sustainability team (a dozen students + supporting staff) thought long and hard about how to honor the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day given these new conditions. Rather than cancel Earth Month, we have decided to try our best to honor this historic event online with any and all that would like to join us.  Our intention is to create a space to come together to see familiar faces, share ideas and show respect for each other and our Earth.

While we will be shifting our programming online, we want to acknowledge several points: 1) not everyone has equal access to online resources, 2) unplugging and taking a walk in nature might be the best thing we can do for our health and nervous systems right now rather than spending more time scrolling through social media channels, and 3) there might be bigger priorities for you, like taking care of a sick family member or finding a stable place to shelter.

If connection with your SMC community and a bit of inspiration are what you are craving right now, we are offering several spaces, below, to connect, engage.
