As Dean of the Library and Academic Resources, Pat Kreitz is continuously at the intersections of academia and the arts. With the library at the physical and intellectual heart of the campus, Kreitz knew walking into the position five years ago that she was someplace special. However the liberal arts curriculum at Saint Mary’s was a drastic change from her previous position. Before joining the faculty, Kreitz was the director of information services at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center at Stanford University.
Lysley Tenorio, professor in the English department and the MFA in Creative Writing program, has returned to Saint Mary’s after a year abroad in Italy. Now back in the Bay Area, Tenorio is excited to be back at Saint Mary’s. He has returned to a few surprises on campus. “I’m still getting used to the new banister and the painted pigeons in the Dante stairwell,” he said. Tenorio is also working on a novel. We caught up with Tenorio, to chat with him about his time abroad and what he is most looking forward to being back in San Francisco.
Although Nakia Gibbs ’17 is now a senior majoring in Theatre Performance and Theatre Studies, three years ago, she wasn’t even sure if she would be going to Saint Mary’s. “My first choice was to be down in Los Angeles,” recalled Gibbs.
