The Nine That Kept Them Alive Against UCSB

By Ranjay Matharu Class of 2017

Last weekend, our Women’s Club Volleyball team competed at San Jose State’s tournament with only nine-divine ladies. The Gaels faced three tough losses, coming short in the third set against UC Irvine and barely losing their last game in the third set, 15-13, against UC Berkley. However, the highlight of the tournament was an impressive performance against division leaders UCSB II, who were otherwise undefeated in the tournament. The Gaels went 25-20 in their first set, 21-25 in the second, and 15-9 in the last set, giving them the win despite being 7 players short of UCSB’s 16 player squad! The Lady Gaels take on their next tournament at UOP with their first game on Saturday, February 8th. Be sure to come out and support your Women’s Club Volleyball team!
