Brother Ronald Gallagher with Kathi and Jim Capponi '70
Guests at the President's Club Wine Country reception at the Duckhorn Winery in St. Helena on May 6 got a special treat — the opportunity to learn about wine and then dine in the winery's fermentation building.
The Wine Country event, which has been hosted for the last 10 years by Kathi and Jim Capponi '70, was particularly popular this year. Duckhorn Winery is one of the country's top producers of varietal Bordeaux, and the guest limit of 70 was reached just two days after the announcement. A total of 74 people showed up for the wine tasting and a sit-down luncheon.
The President's Club, which is Saint Mary's most generous community of benefactors, provides stability and support for the College. A gift of $1,500 or more per year entitles members to benefits that include a complimentary invitation for two to the President's Dinner Dance, the opportunity to help shape the lives of young people, inclusion in the SMC Annual Report, invitation to regional events and networking opportunities.
Undergraduate G.O.L.D. (Gaels Of the Last Decade) alumni receive full President's Club membership with annual gifts of $750 or more for the 10 years following graduation. Alumni of graduate programs are also eligible for the G.O.L.D. membership rate for the five years following their graduation.
President's Club events are held primarily to recognize and thank members for their generosity and encourage continued, increased and prospective memberships.
