Updated COVID-19 Guidance for Small Indoor Events

As of February 4, 2022, Contra Costa Health Services has lifted its safety requirement for restaurants and gyms to check for proof of vaccination. This was done in response to Contra Costa reaching the 80 percent threshold for vaccinated individuals. As it has throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Saint Mary’s continues to follow county guidance when it becomes available.

With this requirement no longer in place, Saint Mary’s is amending its protocols for hosting smaller celebratory events on campus.

  • Indoor events are no longer required to generate a guest list and designate a point person to verify proof of vaccination or proof of a negative test taken within 72 hours of the event.
  • Masking is still required in all indoor spaces when guests are not actively eating or drinking.
  • Event location occupancy and room layout should still accommodate room for social distancing and events should also take advantage of all possible opportunities to create air flow—ie, opening windows and doors and providing access to outdoor seating when possible.
  • Note that these revised guidelines do not yet apply to larger, indoor athletic contests or “mega events” of 500 or more people.
