Winning Streak Continues Against Claremont
March 26, 2011 - As the Gael Ruggers faced 2010 College D2 National Champions, Claremont College they continued to show their pride in the game as they won not only the hearts of the crowd, but the game (46-0).
The game started with great motivation. Matt Hensley kicked it to Garrett Brewer to start of the lead for the Gaels. Within twenty minutes Nick Wallace scored off a maul after subbing in for injured Lloyd Evans from hurting his hip in a scrum. The Gael Ruggers continue to light up the scoreboard by Kingsley McGowan’s try with ten minutes left and Nick Wallace’s final try before the half, which left the Gaels leading 22-0 at half.
Half time started off with brotherly love. Max Heath passed on the ball to younger brother Augie Heath for a corner try. Captain Andrew Cook showed leadership skills by having a great run and passing it on to Garret Brewer for his second try. It was a team effort when Joey Reavey had the support of his fellow Gaels when he scored off a ruck. After his score Jake Holguin subbed in and with only three minutes left scored for the Gaels off a scrum. Luke Napier had the final say in the game as he made the final try in the last minute of the game.
Next week our Gaels travel to San Luis Obispo to take on Cal Poly, now 1-2 after a loss yesterday to San Diego State.
