Alumni Fees Are As Follows: 

Alumni Fees

  • FREE for a full year of career services after graduation.

  • Additional $15 each for MBTI and Strong assessments, to cover material costs.

Graduate Student Fees

  • No charge for full-time graduate students.  One year after graduation, the alumni fee schedule ($50 for a full year of career services) applies.

  • $15 each for MBTI and Strong assessments, to cover material costs.

  • The $50 fee covers a full range of career services for one year from the date of payment, as outlined below:

Individual One-on-One Counseling Services

  • Career exploration

  • Review resume

  • Assistance with cover letter preparation

  • Interview technique consulting

  • Job posting information

  • Access to on-campus interview information

  • Networking and job-search strategies

  • How to conduct an informational interview

  • Use of other Career Center tools, e.g. library materials

  • Self-assessment and skills tests, e.g. SkillScan, Values Sort

  • Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and Strong Interest Inventory (additional fee)

Fees are payable by cash, check (to Saint Mary’s College), or credit card.

Graduate School Advising for Alumni

Graduate school advising is available free of charge for the first semester after graduation from Saint Mary’s College of California.  After that period a $50 fee will apply.  This fee covers up to five hours of counseling and assistance in the following areas:

  • Designing an approach to achieving graduate school admission

  • Discerning which graduate degree (e.g., MA, MAT, MS, MEd, MFA, PhD, EdD, DDS, MD, etc.) or combination of degrees (e.g., MC + PhD, MS + PhD, MBA + JD, etc.) is right for you

  • What to do if taking time off between graduation and applying to graduate school

  • Guidance in researching graduate school options and gathering information on the schools you are interested in

  • Factors to consider in choosing a graduate school and help in preparing a range of schools to apply to

  • Mapping out a timeline for completing your application

  • Information on the graduate school entrance exams, testing dates, test construction, preparation strategies, etc.

  • Review of personal statements and/or application essays

  • Review and update of your existing resume or curriculum vitae

  • Letters of Recommendation - determining whom to ask and how to ask

  • Discussion of test scores, academic profile, and your resume and their role in the admission decision

  • Discussion of the possibility of deferrals after acceptance into grad/law/med school, and why you might choose to do this

  • Advice on what to do if a school “waitlists” or places you “on hold”

  • Transfer strategies if you are in one graduate program and you wish to transfer to a different one

  • Financing your graduate school program
