The Saint Mary's College community is committed to providing broad-based educational programs to address and prevent the occurrence of sexual assault/sexual misconduct.

Some of the educational and prevention-oriented efforts provided by the College include:

  1. The Women's Resource Center, Counseling and Psychological Services, the Mission and Ministry Center, the Health Center and others provide support services to those who have been involved in incidents of sexual assault or sexual misconduct, and other forms of gender violence.
  2. All incoming first year students must complete an online educational program called "Think About It" before coming to campus. The program addresses sexual assault, alcohol and other drug use, bystander intervention, consent, and healthy relationships. 
  3. Specific programs are held during orientation and week of welcome addressing sexual assault or sexual misconduct, alcohol and other drug use, other forms of gender violence, College policy and the student discipline process.
  4. The Women's Resource Center has a peer education team called the Student Coalition Against Rape (SCAR) that provides interactive, educational programming throughout the year in residence halls and classrooms.
  5. Campus-wide programs are offered throughout the year in conjunction with the Women's Resource Center, the Health Center, Counseling and Psychological Services, Residential Experience, and the Department of Athletics to address sexual assault or sexual misconduct, alcohol and other drug use, and other forms of gender violence.
  6. The Women's Resource Center works with students, faculty and staff to educate the campus community and to raise awareness regarding the risks and the consequences of sexual assault or sexual misconduct, harassment and other forms of gender violence.
  7. Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October), V-Day International Campaign, and Sexual Assault Activism Month (April) feature active and passive elements aimed at raising awareness and addressing issues related to sexual assault or sexual misconduct, alcohol and other drug use, and other forms gender violence.
  8. Brochures, bulletin board displays, and web information relating to sexual assault, sexual misconduct, alcohol and other drug use, and other forms gender violence are available.
