The 2015 Season is underway!!! Come out and support the Gaels at their home field, City Park in Pittsburg!

Led by Juniors Justin Traille, Derek Ruff, and Gunnar Sandberg.

March 21, 2015 | SMC v. Kansas

Friday night the Gaels took on the Kansas Jayhawks for a double header under the lights at City Park in Pittsburg. After 5 strong innings from Stephen Oldfather, the Jayhawks came back late to take the lead 5 to 4. In the bottom of the 7th with the bases loaded, sophomore Robert Dunbar hit a walk off double, giving the Gaels the win 6-5.

In the second game of the double header, Freshman Francisco Prado threw 5 strong innings, striking out 7 in the process. With the game tied at 2 going into the bottom of the 7th, the Gaels pulled out some more late inning magic as Sophomore Colin Spencer hit a ball up the middle, scoring Bo Visico from third and giving the Gaels another walk off win 3-2.

In the last game of the series, the Gaels took the field behind Freshman ace Brett Macgilfrey. With a 1.16 ERA, Brett is third in the nation in ERA. The Gaels battled all game, but lost 4-0.

The Gaels took the series from the visiting Kansas Jayhawks in their last home series of the year.

The team looks to have a lot of returning players with only having lost 3 seniors and build off the success they had as a first year club. Going 7-15 overall on the season, the Gaels look to compete next season and continue to improve.
