Seminar Events Program, with Bro. O. DeSales Perez, former Director of Collegiate Seminar Program, 1990-present:- Since 1990, I have been bringing programs of theater, lectures,
concerts, art shows, lectures, poetry-readings, distinguished visitors,
films, etc. to SMC from all over the country to supplement the texts in
the Seminar Program, as Director of Seminar Events. We have had
distinguished scholars and artists from all fields, and many hundreds,
thousands by now, of SMC students, faculty, and community have attended
our plays, music, art, films, talks, and discussions related to works
of literature from the Greeks to contemporary times.

Newman Essay Contest and UNDERGRADUATE magazine and OnStage Newsletter of events for Campus and Community, since 1990, ongoing:- In 1990, we instituted the first essay contest for seminar
students, based on their writing in seminar classes. For the past 12
years, we have judged, edited, collected and published each year's
winning essays in The Undergraduate magazine. I have been founder and
editor of those projects since their inception in 1990, working first
with Bro. O. DeSales Perez, then Director Theo Carlile, and currently
Charlie Hamaker.
Each year we award the Newman Prize Essays at the annual Newman Awards
Luncheon in April, when the magazine is published and presented and the
awards are announced, Oscar-style.
In addition, I publish the OnStage newsletter, during each semester, a
monthly or bi-monthly publication, which introduces each semester
Seminar Events to the campus: faculty and students, alike. Events are
keyed to the texts and the dates they are read in each seminar class:
Greek through Modern Thought.
