As a new faculty member you'll need to learn the ins and outs of your new home at Saint Mary's College. We have resources to help you, including orientation activities and a list of useful things to know about life on campus.

Information about ID Numbers and Photo ID cards explained below.

ID Numbers

Employee ID numbers are available from the Human Resources Office.

Photo ID Cards

Photo ID cards are issued by the Business Office (Filippi Hall), Mon - Fri, 9:00 am-3:30 pm; no appointment necessary. Bring your SMC ID number.

Required Human Resources Forms & Documentation

Please submit me the following to the Human Resources Office:

  1. Employment Eligibility Verification, I-9 Form
  2. Form W-4
  3. Personnel Data Form
  4. Present required "acceptable" legal documentation (ie, one current passport, or both driver's license and social security card; or for complete instructions view the last page of the I-9 form for List of Acceptable Documents).

When processing of the Employee ID has been completed, this information will be forwarded to IT Services.

Duplicating Services

For duplicating orders (generally more than 10 copies), contact Duplicating Services, ext. 4374, in the Warehouse annex. Hours are Mon-Fri, 7:00am-5:00pm. Turnaround time varies from 24-72 hours depending on the workload. To reproduce copyrighted materials permission must be first secured from the publisher. Permission forms are available from Duplicating Services.

SMC Bookstore

A 10% discount on books and most other items is available to Saint Mary's faculty and staff. For course book orders contact Lor Collin  ([email protected]).

ATM Machine

A Bank of America ATM machine is located opposite the CILSA office, in the ground floor stairwell of the Cassin Student Union, Ferroggiaro Hall.

Cultural Resources

  • Hearst Art Gallery – Gallery and Gift Shop Hours: Wed-Sun 11:00-4:30, the permanent exhibition includes works of California artist, William Keith; changing exhibitions include an annual summer landscape show and others representing a wide variety of themes and media; opportunities are available for faculty curators. For more info call ext. 4379.
  • Creative Writing Reading Series -  call ext. 4457. 

Wellness Resources

  • Joseph L. Alioto Recreation Center. Faculty-  See Human Resources to register for membership. Sign the Wavier of Liability at     Error! Hyperlink reference not valid. Bring your SMC ID card with you every time entering the facility
  • Yoga – check your e-mail for the Fall schedule of weekly yoga sessions
  • Meditation – check your e-mail for the Fall schedule of weekly meditation sessions in the SMC Chapel with Brother Camillus.

Flex Dollars can be added to your SMC ID card.  You can use them at all campus dining facilities.

Saint Mary's Library

The Library has book and electronic collections in the humanities, sciences and social sciences, with strengths in literature, business, education and psychology, to support the College's curriculum.

  • Librarians offer customized library research instruction to support course objectives. They also assist in helping to develop appropriate library assignments that will develop effective information retrieval skills and evaluation of information. To find your librarian subject specialists for instruction sessions or to request resources to be purchased for the collection, check the library's web page, specifically for faculty, on the Faculty Services page.  
  • A variety of electronic resources are available on campus and remotely which provide access to millions of full-text articles and reference resources. To view a complete listing of databases check the library's Databases page.  
  • There are also subject guides published by the library liaisons and subject specialists for each department or program.  
  • If you want to see if the Library subscribes to a particular journal, please use the Journals/Periodicals page for a quick title search. 
  • See what the Library has in its collection by searching Albert, the online catalog.  If the Library does not have a book available, either because it is not owned by the Library, or because it is checked out, you may use Link+. Link+ is a consortium of libraries within California and Nevada. Search the catalog to make a request. Books and DVDs are delivered in less than a week for pick-up at the Circulation desk or a participating pick-up library
  • Books or articles that are not available in the Library in print or electronically (or via the Link+ consortium for books) may be requested from other libraries via ILLiad, our electronic interlibrary borrowing system. To access ILLiad check the library's website under Interlibrary Loan
  • Send questions to the librarians via text, IM, email, telephone, or pop by the reference desk.  More information is available on the Ask Us! page.

Saint Mary's College has its own US Post Office (postal code 94575). Regular hours are 12:00-5:00, Monday-Friday.

  • Faculty boxes for campus mail are located in the Mail Center next to the US Post Office. Leave completed application "Box Assignment Request" form (include campus phone extension) at the campus Mail Center. Keys may be picked up in approximately one week..
  • Additional departmental mailboxes for faculty are located in most buildings adjacent to departmental offices.
