- Atmospheric Chemistry; Air Pollution in National Parks and National Forests
My research focuses upon air pollution in California's National Parks and National Forests. Working with colleagues from the National Park Service (NPS) and the United States Forest Service (USFS), my students and I have conducted extensive measurements of surface-level ozone in Yosemite National Park, Joshua Tree National Park, and other NPS and USFS sites. Our results have been published in journals such as Atmospheric Environment (e.g. "Surface Ozone in Yosemite National Park" by Joel D. Burley and John D. Ray, Volume 41, Issue 28, September 2007, pp. 6048-6062) and have helped spawn multiple student research projects, some of which have received local and/or national recognition.
