In organizational life, employees' decisions to speak up about relevant work issues have a significant impact on the ability of managers to make informed decisions. As the workplace becomes more complex and managers are challenged by increasingly intricate situations, it is becoming more imperative that decision makers utilize the appropriate information from their employees to guide them toward affecting favorable organizational change. Organizational success, then, hinges upon the continuous flow of employee voice as well as the voice recipients' adequate utilization of the available input.
My primary research interests focus on the organizational, dyadic and individual dynamics that can impact the process of communication flow up, down and across the hierarchies. The first examines voice and silence as a multi-actor, multi-level and multi-phase process. The second line of work delves into the effect of power on one's interpretation and evaluation of events and information.
