Homecoming a full weekend with events for both alumni and students! Alumni are especially invited back to campus on Friday for Veterans Day activities, Saturday for more than a dozen receptions and mini-reunions, and Sunday for a Gael hoops extravaganza!

Featured events include: High Potential's 50th Anniversary Brunch, SMC Trivia, Escape Room, Seminar, and more.

Flag raising and Honor Guard presentation

The SMC community is invited to observe a local Honor Guard raise the flag.

 

Veterans Day BBQ

Brian Stokes Mitchell concert and reception

6 PM reception, 8 PM concert • Bankhead Theatre – Livermore
An exceptional evening of unparalleled artistry from Tony Award-winning performer Brian Stokes Mitchell. Plus enjoy a complimentary reception and view six William Keith paintings currently on loan from the Saint Mary's Museum of Art.

Students are invited to this return of a Saint Mary's classic event– Casino Night! Try your luck at a number of games and enjoy a night with your classmates and friends!

Homecoming Parade

10:30 AM, Saint Mary's campus roadways

Kickoff the biggest day of Homecoming with a Saint Mary's community parade! Cars and groups will travel around campus roads, ending near the chapel lawn driveways. All campus groups are invited to participate by decorating a car and driving/walking in the parade! 

 

High Potential 50th Anniversary Brunch

11 AM – 1 PM, Soda Center

Come together with fellow HP alumni and former staff to celebrate 50 years of empowering, serving, and supporting students at SMC. Join us as we honor the legacy of the program, hear from current students and alumni, and (re)connect with the entire HP community.

Service and Leadership: Insights from veterans in business

Celebrate Veterans Day and hear from an incredible panel of SEBA's alumni veterans now working in companies such as Ambient.ai, Silicon Labs, and the United States Attorney’s Office. Speaker panel presented by SEBA.

 

Beach Volleyball exhibition match

11 AM, SMC Beach Courts (near Justin and Mitty Halls)

Athleticism, effort and energy make beach volleyball one of the most popular sports in the world. Athletes give their full effort for each point, which means there are jubilant celebrations following electric points! Please join us on our very own beach for dynamic exhibition match play during our Homecoming festivities!

 

School of Science Open House

The School of Science welcomes you to Brousseau Hall to hear about current student research, our engaged courses and laboratories, and our current and upcoming graduate programs.

 

"The Hunt for Slip Madigan's Flask" escape room

12:00 - 3:00 PM, Dante TBD

It is 1938 and Saint Mary's legendary athletic director, Slip Madigan, has asked you to go back to the old abandoned Oakland Brickpile to retrieve his lucky flask from a locked cabinet. Only there's a catch! Slip doesn't have a key, just a series of puzzles you have to solve to find the key.

Sign up for a 30-minute adventure in groups of 5 or fewer. Register for a timeslot.

 

"3D Imaging and Human Anatomy" talk and lab

12:00 - 2:00 PM, Brousseau Hall - Anatomy Lab
Professor Greg Smith

Professor Greg Smith will use 3D images to teach alumni about medical imaging and anatomy. He will demonstrate MRIs and CT Scans of COVID lungs, vaping lungs, an aortic aneurysm, a pregnancy and more. He will explain how radiologists use anatomy to interpret these images. However, a transition from human interpretation to using computers and AI is beginning to take place. Finally, Professor Smith will let the alumni try to interpret images of unusual cases from his resource library.

 

CILSA Open House

12:30 - 2:30 PM, CILSA Fish Bowl

CILSA will host an open house with snacks and drinks in the classic "fishbowl" office. Alumni and visitors can stop by at any time to learn about CILSA's current programs and connect with other alumni.

"How to Navigate High Interest Rates" financial workshop

1:00 - 2:00 PM, Dryden Hall

University Credit Union is hosting a financial wellness seminar, sharing tips and tricks on how to navigate the high interest rates of today's financial climate. Join them for a brief discussion about the current economic landscape and steps you can take towards financial freedom.

Come reconnect with your fellow Honors Gaels and share a bite to eat and a chance to catch up together. 

 

Sundance JanTerm: Reunion and Info Session

1:00 - 3:00 PM, Dante 204

The January Term Sundance Film Festival course was inaugurated in 1997 by SMC alumnus Virginia Saenz McCarthy. For 24 years, over 430 SMC students have traveled to Park City, Utah to attend the festival. Some Jan Term Sundance course alumni have gone on to have successful careers in the film industry. This gathering is open to all interested in learning more about the Sundance Film Festival and an opportunity for Jan Term Sundance course graduates to reconnect and share stories about their experiences at the festival.

 

Women's Basketball open practice

Meet the women's basketball team and new head coach Jeff Cammon before their home opener on Sunday!

 

Museum of Art tour

2:00 PM, Museum of Art

View the work of alumna Lisa Congdon '90 and famed Corita Kent in the fall exhibitions with a guided tour at 2 PM. Museum gallery open 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Free entry. Enjoy live music by a student cellist at 1 p.m.

 

Musical concert tribute to Br. Martin Yribarren, FSC

3:00 PM, Saint Mary's Chapel

All are invited to a concert honoring the life and music of our dear friend and colleague, Brother Martin Yribarren, FSC (1947-2021), Christian Brother, Integral Program Tutor, and the College's organist. The program will feature Integral students, alumni, and tutors, Brothers, friends, and original members of Brother Martin's Sacred Music Choir. The concert will be livestreamed and recorded. Reception to follow.

 

Saint Mary's Trivia Contest and Happy Hour

Grab a pint and come with a crew to answer questions about Saint Mary's history and trivia for prizes!

Nothing says Homecoming like gathering around a crackling campfire with your fellow alumni, friends, and current students, and what better way to celebrate than with the timeless, delectable delight of s'mores? Join former and current Housing and Residential Experience staff for an evening filled with laughter, camaraderie, and unforgettable moments. Our cozy s'mores event promises to be a highlight of your Homecoming weekend.

Celebrate mass in the beautiful, timeless chapel.

 

Jubilees, Championships, and Homecomings: Saint Mary's History of Celebrations

11:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Library

This event will be hosted by College Archivist, Kate Wilson, beginning with a presentation on the history of Saint Mary's College highlighting our milestone celebrations since the College was founded in 1863. There will be historic trophies, flags, and game day ephemera on display and a behind the scenes tour after the presentation. Families are welcome and encouraged.

 

Brunch with the Brothers

12:00 PM, Oliver Hall

Enjoy a morning meal with the Christian Brothers. Paid entry at Oliver Hall, hosted mimosa bar.

Bookstore Raffle and Coupon
