Cinematic Arts Minor
The Cinematic Arts minor combines critical analysis and creative production ranging from time-based film and video to new media art. Our faculty emphasizes technical fundamentals, conceptualization, personal expression, and social responsibility. You will be encouraged to interpret as well as produce the moving image art form as an engaged critical practice.
Beyond the coursework, an internship elective provides hands-on opportunities in film, from assisting with a film exhibition to partnering with a faculty filmmaker or researcher.
This minor works well in conjunction with the other majors in the School of Liberal Arts (English, Performing Arts, Theology and Religious Studies, etc.) and is a first step toward a potential career in filmmaking.
