Community Media Minor
The Community Media minors pair practical media production skills with the historical-cultural context of the social sciences to apply a rigorous analytic lens to contemporary issues.
Rooted in alternative forms of media distribution and committed to local and collaborative action, it is an interdisciplinary field and practice that blends audiovisual production courses with studies in social action and activism, ethics, politics, cultural and ethnic studies, information technology, public history, and environmental justice.
Students interested in documentary filmmaking, digital storytelling, journalism, archiving and oral histories, or media-driven social change would greatly benefit from this minor.
