More Than 500 Turn Out for SMC Wine Festival
Huge Crowd Enjoys Wine Tastings, Appetizers and Chocolate
A record-setting crowd of more than 500 Saint Mary's College alumni and friends gathered on Sunday, August 14, in the Soda Center for the 7th Annual Summer Wine Festival benefiting the Alumni Legacy Scholarship.
Thirty-two wineries, many of them represented by members of the Gaels in Wine alumni group, poured their premium wines for the attendees. In addition to wine, guests were treated to samples from three breweries, an olive oil company and a chocolatier.
Raffle winners received bottles of cava and Va de Vi cookbooks, and silent auction winners won wine, tours and tastings.
"This event has become an annual tradition for the Gael family and Bay Area community. Our success grows each year and provides significant support to our student scholarship fund," said Chris Carter '97, MA '02, the College's alumni director.
The more than $17,000 raised from this year's event will support the Alumni Legacy Scholarship.
Saint Mary's thanks everyone for their generous support and encourages you save the date for the 8th Annual Summer Wine Festival on Sunday, August 12, 2012.
