Women's Volleyball Team Wins West Coast Conference Title
For the first time, Saint Mary's women's volleyball team won the West Coast Conference championship by defeating the University of San Diego in hard-fought matches Saturday at McKeon Pavilion on campus. The Gaels, who are 19-4 overall and 11-1 in WCC play, outplayed the Toreros in a five-set competition that featured 30 ties and 10 lead changes.
"This team is deep, and they are very tight as far as team chemistry goes, extremely talented, and they understand what it takes to accomplish something like this," said coach Rob Browning.
On Monday, Shannon Lowell was named WCC Player of the Week for the second time this season. Also Monday, the Coaches Poll moved Saint Mary's up to No. 22 in the country.
